In Their Own Words
In 2022, Kemper Museum partnered with the Measurement of Museum Social Impact (MOMSI) project, an initiative supported by Institute of Museums and Library Sciences that works to address the critical need of establishing best practices for measuring social impact within the museum field. More than 50 Kansas Citians joined the national pilot study. Here is some of what they had to say after their experiences at Kemper Museum.
-
“[Museums] seem more approachable and like places worth revisiting.”
-
“It is an amazing attraction for tourists, and helps shape people's perception of KC. This benefits our community. For locals, it helps bring people together and open our minds.”
-
“I became more aware of the museum's value to our community. It draws groups of people that I don't see elsewhere.”
-
“…museums and cultural sites are a great way to see, learn, and understand humans and ideas that may or may not be different from your own.”
-
“Provides an opportunity to meet different people in the community through events and gives my husband and I a chance to connect through visiting the museum without having to commit a huge amount of time due to the approachable size and scale of the museum.”
-
“Reminded me how important art is and how much it charges my creative side!”
-
“By being free, by having thoughtfully curated shows by all types of artists, by being conveniently located in the heart of the city. The hands on, make-it-art experience for children/families is excellent.”
-
“One of the times I attended with a friend. It was a good activity to do together and it was affordable :) Going with a friend gave us an opportunity to explore together and discuss, which made the experience richer. I am socially isolated and enjoy the interacting with other visitors.”
-
“It is always free and accessible with excellent artwork. Its small size makes it easy for even non-museum goers to interact with art in a manageable way.”
